SPIRE VIEW

Spire View Airfield is a small farm strip located 5 miles out of Salisbury and 2 miles out of the village of Coombe Bissett. The Airfield has 2 grass runways one North South and an East West which are just under 500 metres in length.
The Airfield was named Spire View as you can look across towards Salisbury and clearly see the Cathedral Spire.

You could say that events conspired to bring about an excellent opportunity for flying.
This began with the previous owner moving abroad and the airfield coming on the market. This also coincided with nearby Old Sarum not renewing permission for aircraft based there.
Ted Coombs, a local man, saw an opening for a new development to add to his farming experience. The land which abuts the airstrip had been farmed by his parents for the last 30 years
